Advocating for Children of Incarcerated Parents

Over 5 million children in the U.S. are impacted by parental incarceration. As a result, children often suffer adverse outcomes. Research shows that children who maintain regular contact with their incarcerated parents result in better outcomes for the children, the incarcerated parents, and society.

Despite these benefits, many significant policy-driven and structural barriers exist that make regular contact difficult. Legislative and policy reform solutions can help lower these barriers.

Our advocacy action plan identifies ways you can help these children.
